Education is changing. Some of the change is for the better and some for the worse. With decreasing funding and increasing needs for research, many professors no longer have time or do not know how to give the graduate student detailed developmental editing and advising. Even non-credit dissertation and thesis writing courses offered by many departments do not offer the graduate student concrete and practical advice.
As a result, more universities and colleges are suggesting that graduate students contact a network such as Thesis and Dissertation Advisors On Call for help. These schools know that our network is made up of retired or part-time professors who bring vast years of experience and expertise to our network. They also know that our consultants have high standards and ethics, providing guidance and advice necessary for the graduate student to succeed.
Frustration and time pressures sometimes make graduate students feel unable to cope. Our consultants understand these stressors and work with the graduate student to reach the goal of a successful defense. At the same time, graduate students who wish to purchase a thesis or dissertation must understand the ramifications of such behaviors. The results, in some fields, may be devastating: Imagine receiving care from a nurse practitioner or physician who has gotten through a graduate program on the basis of someone else's work. How much is too much help? What constitutes crossing that line?
