ANGELA ROSE is a publishing industry insider whose most recent in-house position was at Random House’s Ballantine Bantam Dell imprint, where she worked for five years. While there, she edited a wide variety of commercial fiction and non-fiction, including several books for the Loveswept digital publishing line, and provided editorial support for a list of acclaimed, bestselling authors that included Mary Balogh, Barbara O'Neal, Suzanne Brockmann, and H. P. Mallory. She also evaluated hundreds of submitted manuscripts and book proposals in the following categories: general fiction, women’s fiction, romance, science fiction and fantasy, young adult fiction, memoir, narrative non-fiction, and self-help. In addition, Angela has done freelance editorial work for Amazon, Harlequin, and Callisto Media; has acted as a judge for two 2012 literary contests; and has received pitches at several writers’ conferences.

As an editor, Angela addresses both big picture issues and minute details. She gives writers in-depth suggestions on how to fix problems with plot, structure, characterization, pacing, and more, and is also a pro at catching inconsistencies, repetitions, errors, and fixing clunky dialogue and prose. To her, there is nothing more satisfying than helping an author produce his or her dream book.

Before embarking upon her career as an editor, Angela earned a bachelor’s degree with high honors in English from the College of William and Mary and attended the Columbia Publishing Course in New York City.

Professional manuscript critiques, evaluations, and content editing

Manuscript Critique/evaluation:

I’ll give you my honest impressions about the commercial potential of your manuscript, and will provide you with detailed, incisive advice for what you should do moving forward. I’ll also send you an overview of the changes that will help bring your manuscript to the next level, including suggested fixes for plot problems, two-dimensional characters, pace issues, and more.

Developmental edit:

I’ll complete a thorough line edit of your manuscript, increasing its readability and flow by reworking confusing and awkward writing, eliminating repetitive and verbose material, and indicating where additional information is necessary for reader comprehension. I’ll use the “track changes” mode in Microsoft Word to highlight my edits, and will also insert specific comments throughout the manuscript. In addition, I’ll provide you with a detailed critique.
